Sterling silver jewelry naturally tarnishes when exposed to air and other elements. Tarnish is an oxidation process that does not permanently damage the sterling silver in any way. Tarnish collects on the surface of the jewelry and simply needs to be rubbed or polished off periodically.
- Prevention - The best solution for tarnish is prevention. Wearing your jewelry is one method of prevention because the silver is constantly being rubbed (and polished) against your skin. When not being worn, store your K&S jewelry in a closed jewelry box to reduce exposure to sulfur in the air and away from other tarnished jewelry.
- Removal - If your K&S jewelry is starting to look dull, you can quickly remove the tarnish with a polishing cloth to keep your jewelry shiny and tarnish-free. The polishing cloth can be used to rub or polish the metal’s dull surface that has started to occur.
